Mel completed the certification programme and is one of a small group of certified Roò stylists in Sydney. The technique cuts curls individually on dry hair to honour the natural curl pattern instead of forcing it into a wet-cut shape that won't hold.
Come with your curls styled the way you usually wear them — clean, defined and dry if possible, with no buns, ponytails or wet hair. The cut needs to see how your curls naturally fall so Mel can shape around your real-world styling, not a wash-day version of your hair.
Typically 3 to 4 months — longer than a traditional cut because the curl shape grows out evenly rather than losing definition at the ends. Mel will recommend a maintenance schedule that suits your curl pattern and how you wear it.
Yes, the technique works across the curl spectrum — loose waves, springy curls, tight coils and chemically-treated curls. If you've had relaxers, keratin treatments or recent colour, mention it at booking so Mel can plan the cut and any condition recovery around it.
